A UNIQUE COLLABORATION WITH THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

A UNIQUE COLLABORATION WITH THE METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

THE MET X EICHHOLTZ COLLECTION

THE MET X EICHHOLTZ COLLECTION

The Met x Eichholtz collection draws inspiration from over 5,000 years of history and art exhibited at the world-renowned institution. With almost 100 unique products, each has been beautifully crafted to tell a story of ancient civilizations up to the present day that with our creative vision and contemporary interpretation, feels luxurious and ideal for a modern lifestyle.

The new collection, all of it handmade and available internationally, is borne of an intense but joyous 12 months of research; time spent at The Met with its expert curators exploring the museum and the extraordinary archives.

ABOUT THE MET

ABOUT THE MET

The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 by a group of American citizens — businessmen and financiers as well as leading artists and thinkers of the day — who wanted to create a museum to bring art and art education to the American people.

Today, The Met displays tens of thousands of objects covering 5,000 years of art from around the world for everyone to experience and enjoy. The Museum lives in two iconic sites in New York City — The Met Fifth Avenue and The Met Cloisters. Millions of people also take part in The Met experience online.

Since its founding, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum’s galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing both new ideas and unexpected connections across time and across cultures.

the INSPIRATIONAL FOUNDATION

the INSPIRATIONAL FOUNDATION

Eichholtz’s Chief Creative Officer Edwin van der Gun and his design team were given unparalleled access to explore the galleries and select artworks that now form the inspirational foundation for the collection.

Creating The Met x Eichholtz collection has been an exceptional experience for me and my team. A year of being allowed to roam through the museum when it was closed to the public and explore the archives has led us to design a collection, we are incredibly proud of. Our close engagement with the artifacts and artworks, being allowed to see the structure and materiality felt like a once-in- a-lifetime opportunity.

The result is a very special collection of handcrafted pieces we know work beautifully with the Eichholtz collections and will suit a wide variety of luxury interiors.

The collection features 40 art reinterpretations including elegant statues and busts carved in fine materials including bronze, brass, and marble. Each pays direct homage to the techniques and cultures of the past with an emphasis on authenticity.

Working in close collaboration with the Museum’s design team, each piece is handcrafted by skilled artisans and is marked on its base with The Met x Eichholtz logo.

GLOBALLY INSPIRED, ARTFULLY CRAFTED

GLOBALLY INSPIRED, ARTFULLY CRAFTED

The ease with which this new collection connects both aesthetically and atmospherically to the Eichholtz collections is why it works so beautifully. While The Met x Eichholtz range is an homage to history and culture, it retains the simple, elegant, and luxurious lifestyle aesthetic that remains at the heart of every Eichholtz collection.
