The "Cabinet Metropolitan S" draws its inspiration from the magnificent steps of the MET museum, elegantly capturing the essence of its design. Crafted from natural oak veneer, this smaller version stands confidently at 134.5 cm in width, 50 cm in depth, and 237 cm in height. Part of the collaborative masterpiece of The Met x Eichholtz, it embodies the spirit of the Metropolitan Collection. These captivating designs create a refined backdrop, allowing you to display your cherished art collection spanning centuries, crafting an elegant setting in your home.
HISTORIC PROVENANCE
With influences from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and New York City, the Cabinet Metropolitan takes its design cues from The Met’s instantly recognizable architecture and the iconic steps leading up to the Museum. Presented in a natural oak veneer, the cabinet recalls the scale and grandeur of The Met’s Beaux-Arts entryway and Great Hall, as well as the Museum’s many artworks and objects and the way in which they’re presented. The collection also looks to the city’s iconic skyline, capturing its artistic and dynamic spirit.

HOW TO CARE FOR WOOD VENEER
Veneer furniture is covered in a thin layer of real hardwood. Veneers are often used in high end furniture pieces and can be more costly than solid wood. Mid 20th century it became especially popular in interiors when teak wood was often used for Danish design furniture.
To fully enjoy your wood veneer furniture, please follow a few basic rules:
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and excessive heat or dampness.
- Be careful not to leave a wet ring on the surface after watering flowers or plants.
- Don’t expose the furniture to scratches from pets or sharp objects.
- Use coasters and place felt pads under lamp bases and accessories.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Wood veneer requires gentle care to preserve the finish. Dust regularly and clean with a soft dry cloth.
Remove spills immediately as moisture can cause the veneer to peel off the surface. Prevent moisture from getting underneath the veneer by quickly and thoroughly cleaning up any spills. In case of water rings, rub the area with naphtha. Follow up with an application of oil or petroleum jelly to completely erase the mark.
